ACTORS
Goals of the Audition

Get an idea of your skills as an actor and see how you bring a character to life.
Prep Work
Practice a 30-35 second monologue – no longer than 1 minute. A monologue is a speech presented by a single character, most often to express their thoughts aloud, though sometimes also to directly address another character or the audience.
  • Choose any monologue you want.
  • Find a monologue that tells a story and that fits you and your experiences, with a character or situation that you can relate to.
  • No need to memorize.
  • No props or costumes.
Here are a few sites to find monologues:

CREW MEMBERS
Goals of the Interview
Discuss your backstage experience and find out what you’re interested in doing.
Prep Work

Think about what crew you're most interested in working on for this particular show.
  • Stage Crew: work backstage during performances to keep the show running smoothly and safely. Responsible for props, set pieces, curtains, wing traffic.
  • Costume Crew: creates the overall appearance of the characters; helps with costume changes, keeping track of costume pieces, and assist with wigs, hair, and make-up.
  • Lights: Set up, rig, program, monitor, repair, and operate lighting equipment to enhance the performances.
  • Sound: , prepares all music and sound effects; operates the sound board, sets up microphones, and makes sure all sound equipment is working properly.
  • House Crew: handles all fundraising and marketing and manages the box office and concessions during the show.
  • Construction: If you're not available for after-school rehearsals, you can still be part of the show by helping on weekends with set construction and painting.
